So I have big collection of mp3s but tags are messed.
I try to fix them (update the year, album's name and cover picture) but it takes forever!

I looked on internet to find some freedb updater but I can't find anything.

Anybody knows something?

Tag&Rename it is very good and free it is what I use.

* manually edit music files tags
* automatically fix and complete file tags using online freedb database
* load titles and cover art from amazon.com server
* load titles from tracktype.org server
* get tags data from file names and its folders structures
* rename your music files and folders according to its music information in a batch
* create play lists
* export files information to CSV, HTML, XML and text formats and more

The most effective method is by using MusicBrainz.

Go to http://musicbrainz.org/ and download Picard.

Then it will automatically tag most of yours.
The ones it doesn't auto-tag, it gives you a quick and easy way to tell MusicBrainz what to tag it as.

I used tagscanner before, not sure what the link to it is, but I think I got it off download.com. It worked pretty well, didn't like how it uses it's own skin instead of using the os's native, but anyways, it worked well enough to find tag info, but I don't think it finds album art automatically. I just installed iTunes recently, it works pretty well for fixing tags, but you'll need an itunes account to get the fullest out of it (like having it get the album art for you). Doesn't seem to work well for music not in your region...

Ok. So I'll try them all.
Media monkey is good but it's teally hard to get right tags from their databases.

I don't think iTunes supports random mp3. Maybe full albums only?

I tried also FixTune but it's not what I meant.

So now I will give a shot to that MusicBrain.

Thanx!

Ok. I'll give a shot to MusicBrainz. But which one?
I downloaded that Pickard, but I don't know how to use it

Recently I got 500 greatest songs ever by The Rolling Stone Magazine. All files, but no albums and years tags and no label art. I wish they would be more iTunes looking :|

Picard.

Then you basially drag MP3s into it and it will attempt to detect which songs they are (based on length and how the song sounds) and put the songs under the correct album. Then you right click the album and click Save and that's it.

Don't forget to set the options up how you like them.

By the way, if it incorrectly guesses a song, or just can't find it, you click on the song, then "Lookup" and then it'll take you to the music brainz website where you browse to the correct album and song, then click "TAGGER" and it'll then tag the MP3 in the program.
