do you have payloads for hourglass9 in your luma/payloads folder?
does anything happen if you hold y, start, l or r during the boot (like, hold it before you even hit the on-switch)

But OP is 100% sure he was in Luma. We have to take his word.

From a diagnostic and repair standpoint, you're completely right. We can only work with what we know, so it is useless to doubt OP, and if OP is wrong, it isn't our problem anyhow.

Once we widen our lens beyond OP, however, blind trust gets us into trouble. In this thread alone we already have people fretting about mysterious bricks and vanishing hax. And while it's certainly possible that there's some console-eating bug that has been overlooked, it's far more likely that OP did something dumb and just doesn't know it.

If I had a dollar for every idiot who screwed up and posted something like "Guiz my console is bricked but I didn't do anything wrong I swear," I would have a lot of dollars.

I completely agree, haha. My first instinct is the update in question was completed in Gateway mode, too. However we only know what OP has told us. I do bring back the case about the N3DS I was talking about earlier though, but I never really followed the thread too much so I don't know if Luma was at fault, but it definitely was accused of being at fault at the beginning. Maybe the same thing happened here and it's as rare as, say, OTPLess bricks.

You didn't update in GW SysNAND somehow did you?.. if so that can result in a brick, download and place the latest arm9loaderhax.bin from the luma release page and see if it boots into the config :)

Nope, he already confirmed this, OP was 100% certain he was in Luma CFW and not GW.

If OP cannot boot luma, but does their 3ds load? Normally. If so, no booting luma - somehow on latest stock firm idk.

From what has been said, OP can boot normally. However, there seems to be something weird about the system settings app. OP says the console freezes when he tries to open it.

It really is. xD

This would make sense since OP is using Gateway. I'm uneducated on how MSET exploit works because I've never used it.
Last I checked, the MSET exploit doesn't take place until you go into the DS Profile settings page in the 3DS Settings app.

Man, the 3DS hacking scene has really evolved since the MSET/web based exploits.

To OP: You have tried taking the Gateway Cart out correct? I've see instances where if the cart is plugged in it does strange things with luma.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
