1. You can't change it to English.
2. If you purchased an English DS game, it should play in English (unless it's a DSi game, and in that case it wouldn't play at all due to the region lock)
3. Did you set your country correctly when signing up for GBAtemp? Because your flag says you're from Australia, even though you say you're from the Czech Republic.

For my DSi XL, I only have English, French, Spanish available.

But, go to system settings (it has a picture of a wrench).
Go all the way to page 4. Pick the top most option
That should be the language selection.

I also have a Japanese DSi LL, and can confirm that the language can't be changed.

There are guides on the internet that will translate the settings for you.

unfortunately not. when nintendo introduced the DSi line (DSi, DSiLL), they limited the language choices (due to the fact that the DSiware was also limited to that country).
- in japan, your only option is japanese
- with a us DSi or DSi XL, your language selections are: english, french and spanish

I can't speak for the eu DSi or DSi XL systems, as I do not have access to one

I have immigrated to Australia with my parents, do you think I should chang my flag?

Doesn't look like it helped you too much. Honestly.

If he can't type the Hiragana out, how the hell is he gonna use it?

Do you have a Japanese keyboard? Do you think he has a Japanese keyboard? No? You kinda failed there.

On-topic: What thieves like us said is completely true. You could try loading a DS phat firmware using a flashcart and changing the language there, but it'll only change Pictochat, Download Play, and the default language for DS games. The menu will still be Japanese.
If you're not planning to buy DSiWare, then the language doesn't really matter.

You should probably have it changed to the Czech Republic flag if you have limited English capabilities so other people will assume English isn't your primary language.

I have sent back the dsi ll for refund, learning Japanese is very hard harder than English

Yes Japanese is a hard language to learn if it isn't your primary language. I do hope to learn Japanese one day and even live there. Going to be hard work, I know...
