Hacking I don't like the SD2VITA

Yeah then one day you leave your vita on overnight and you lose your progress. Then another day you decide to fuck hacks and upgrade to 3.65 and realize none of your saves work anymore.

Does anybody even know why this happens at all?

What could possibly get "toggled" when you leave it on for a long time that makes the cartridges dumps "disconnect" and you end up not being able to save your progress?

I assume no one has taken a look at this from the technical point of view?

i got as far as using it but nothing as far as adding more stuff to it. i hope someone mass makes those 3g ones as i have a 3g vita and would work better for me

if interested i would sell you my 3g one i am not interested in opening my vita at this point...

i got mine off ebay as others have noted seller was uncle-sams-bargain-bin it was pricey but it shipped fast ordered last Friday and i got mine today. I had the other one at first and nothing but problems whereas this one worked straight away

the only thing i know about saving is you can't let your vita go to sleep in middle of game someone even made a no sleep patch of some sort....

@Tom Bombadildo Even if those dumpers have their disadvantages, TheFlow who made Vitamin with MrGas was impressed by MaiDump and it's dumping process.
It's up to the original developer to remove the remaining bugs, but one at least can also make backups regularly with the vita-savemanager to prevent data loss.
And dumping to usbmc or sd2vita should be fixed too while they're at it...
I'm not saying they're not impressive achievements for early homebrew, but they could've been done way better. Clean dumps, for one, would've been infinitely better than the junk we have now.

And it's unlikely any "bugs" will be fixed, as TheFlow stopped developing his and the Maidump team hasn't released an update in nearly a year.

It's because the dumpers used don't produce proper, clean dumps, which causes issues with things like save games. Also why some games are "undumpable", even if they work on 3.60.

Because these "dumps" are not really proper dumps (like we expect from ISOs and ROMs) but are hacked together garbage that somehow manages to work most of the time. For one, all that metadata in the game executable is discarded so at the very least the Vita thinks you are running a devkit test build rather than a retail game and doesn't enable many features such as save encryption and of course you can't install retail updates. These dumpers were made in the months between henkaku's release and taihen's release allowing for kernel modules to run. It seems the pirates were fine with having subpar dumps and would rather find creative ways around the various problems than write a proper one that runs as a kernel module...

It's not pirates who made (and make) this sort of tool.

It’s not warez, it’s a fix for the save bug. Learn to read before “snipping” something.....
It doesn't matter, we DO NOT allow links to warez-related sites, regardless if it's a post that doesn't have warez in a piracy sub-reddit.

"We DO NOT HOST or PROVIDE ROMs/WADs/ISOs/CIAs; or link to websites that do contain ROMs/WADs/ISOs/CIAs."

Oh really, then what do you think THIS site is? Just because you don’t contain roms, you’re somehow holier than thou? We teach people how to hack their consoles so they can play downloaded games and run home brew. We are not God.

A fix is a fix no matter what site it is.

Here is the “Tom Bombadouche Approved version” of the Vita save fix, since he feels the need to be so high and might even though we teach people how to hack consoles:

It's not that we are being holier-than-thou because we do not have ROMs and all that. Our policy is to not provide links to sites which contain ROMs etc, regardless of whether the link contains any infringing material. Period.

You don't have to like the rules, but you do have to abide by them. If you think this task is too difficult for you, please kindly fuck off.

The rules are simple, don't name or link to sites (or subreddits) that share warez. It's not difficult or unreasonable.

If the only source of a fix is a warez sharing site, you can copy/paste the text of the post in question, being careful to remove any links the post may contain.

But then again I can link you to Reddit.com and no one will cry a river about it... And it still contains all kind of warez in every sub-forum there :wtf:

The problem there is Reddit itself is not a warez community, it's simply a massive collection of various user created sub sections. It does not, in itself, exist purely to support warez. A specific subreddit, however, does, which is why we do not allow links to these subreddits.

Otherwise, by your logic, linking to Google would not be allowed, or Yahoo, or Bing, or any other search engine because "they can lead to warez!". But that'd be silly, obviously Google and Microsoft and Yahoo and whomever else don't support piracy/links to illegal content.

Anyways, this is way off topic at this point. The Op fixed their issues, so unless someone has a similar problem, we can leave this thread alone.

It's amazing how easy it is to trigger a pirate and how they always have to start defending piracy even though most people don't care either way.
Wow, i'm sure i have been out of line before and will be again....... generally i try to reflect regularly so i can pull myself up on it and not be caught with my pants down. Shit the day i do and stand firm in my arrogance.

You made a bad call, have before and will again. Suck it up and move on, don't become that person....

So theoretically speaking, if there was a dumper that was created with henkaku and taihen's kernel access, we would have "proper" dumps? Would these present themselves as a different format or would they be like official vita .PKGs? This is pretty interesting. I hope that someday someone makes such a dumper, especially since the majority of games I have installed on my SD2Vita are personal dumps using MaiTool. I have already encountered the save bug once... I don't want to encounter it again! It was also a royal pain dumping save data properly so I could use it for a dumped game, because as you said, everything is a work-around these days.
