I think i have a new theory why it's kinda expensive.
Since they sell less games tanks to piracy they need to higher the price on the console since you can't pirate a console..

-Ssinated!
I was thinking this too.

I'm not too dissapointed at a $400 price tag, (since it was said it'll be similar to the wii's launch price) because I'd gladly pay extra money for more advanced hardware. If the DSi is $300, I'd prefer to pay more and get something better

I am pissed that I have to wait until march though. It'll be better in the long run, I know... being impatient sucks.

Oh and judging by a video, mario kart looks like it's going to be identical to the wii version in terms of speed and how mini-turbo's are 'made'. IMO it's dead before it's even out.

I hate the price and that most of the games they are releasing were already released years ago just with 3D so I'll pass on those.
A Boy and His Blob, Zelda: OoT, StarFox64, Splinter Cell, MGS3 and SSF4.

6 out of 80 titles isn't most.

Exactly.
Nobody can deny that the 3DS has some incredibly strong titles announced. I think that the "pffft remakes" argument is an ignorant attack on the 3DS, as the remade games are classics that people generally want to be remade, and there are only several of them.

Also, turns out that the 3DS was supposed to be released in 2010.

However, I'm happy about:
- Swapping your DSiWare games to the 3DS.
- The non-fingerprint attracting material coming back from the DSi.

Any more info on these two?
-Not sure what swapping DSiWare games means: transferring them over to the 3DS with no problems?
-With the second point, Matte is back? Gloss is gone?

Here are some things that I'm worried/let down about:
- Price. (Given the features it has, I don't see it as an outrageous price at all)
- Only GB/GBA/GBC Virtual Console? (Actually, I see this changing in the future. With the capabilities of the system, there's bound to be more consoles)
- Release date. (Because you're so devastated and your plans are all kinds of fucked up because of the delay)
- For the price, the unit looks somewhat cheap. (For the features offered and the words of those who actually used it at E3, I'm gonna have to disagree)
- The re-addition of the volume "slider", as opposed to the excellent DSi and DSi XL volume buttons. (I always found that the slider was superior. It allows more precise adjustments and is also speedy in case you use headphones and get that sudden burst of ear-raep when you turn on the console after not using them)

$300 BRUTAL
MARCH RELEASE BRUTAL

WHAT THE FUCK IS NINTENDO THINKING THREE HUNDRED DOLLAR
THINK ABOUT ALL THE NEW IMPROVEMENTS. DO YOU THINK IT'S JUST WORTH $200?

Yes! Oh no it's OK Nintendo take all my money I don't need it.

I keep wondering if this is Nintendo's way of experimenting on how much Nintendo fans are willing to pay for the DS2-I mean 3DS

AGAIN!!! It's not 300 bucks imbeciles! It's 200 to 250 maximum.. Well don't get the 3DS.. like we care

I laugh at the "300 dollars is sooooo expensive."

The Original Gameboy launched at 200 bucks.

Guess how much that would be in todays market? 341.66

So yeah.. Quit yer whining.

That will soon be told. I will be sticking with the $300 mark myself until I see the actual NA price. It already looks better than the stuff the Wii can do, so technically it's better than the Wii, logically making it cost more. We won't know until it comes out, but with current exchange rates $300 sounds right.

It's not $300, it is 25,000円. MSRP aren't based on exchange rates when sold in different markets unless you are importing.

not exactly and not true true... the DS sold at a near identical price point in the US market that it did in the japanese market.. get over yourselves if you think it'll be 200$ ... at the lowest it'll be 250$ unless nintendo gets generous which i dont foresee happening.

besides, the system looks great to me ;P

The original Gameboy launched at $89.99, not $200. You're probably thinking of the Atari Lynx, which released at the same time for $189.99.

Is anybody else somewhat disappointed from the announcement?

- The re-addition of the volume "slider", as opposed to the excellent DSi and DSi XL volume buttons.

However, I'm happy about:
- Tag mode.
- Swapping your DSiWare games to the 3DS.
- Mii's!
- The games mostly look fantastic visually, excluding that crummy Japanese baseball title.
- Strong major titles from major developers.
- The non-fingerprint attracting material coming back from the DSi.

I think it's perfect, we are paying $300 for something that seems it would be $300. The graphics are amazing, the Virtual Console is gonna be great... By the way, their is no GBA Virtual Console, just GB, and GBC. I liked the volume slider better.. Oh yeah, the system is 3D without glasses!

i hope the price is at most 250 when it comes to US.

also so much people here seems to think that there is GBA VC . THERE ISN'T! (at least not yet)

still lots of people getting misinformed like how lots of people think the 3DS has 3MP -_-
