Hi there! So, 4 years ago I didn't know anything about homebrewing, and bought a "digital download copy" of BOTW for very cheap (my country never had an eShop, so I always knew it was pirated). For the time being, it was great since I had no knowledge whatsoever of how homebrewing worked, the guy who sold it to me gave the file and a little tutorial. The issue is, I put the game on a flash drive, and kept playing on it.
Last year I decided to go all in and homebrew my console. After doing so, I tried downloading BOTW's DLC from NUSspli and discovered the flash drive wouldn't take it - leading me to learn I was always supposed to use a Hard Drive.
I haven't 100% BOTW yet, and I took a break from it until I was able to get a hard drive, since I didn't want to lose anything. Yesterday, I got a hard drive, and tried to transfer it through the Wii U's own method of USB data transfer, but it didn't work. So I downloaded the game fresh from NUSspli unto my hard drive, got the savemii program, and did the backup from there.
At first, it all worked out perfectly. Until today, when I opened the game, took a picture, only to realize none of my pictures would load. I then tried putting the flash drive on again, loading the game from there, closing it, making a backup, but still, after restoring it, the pictures wouldn't load.
The only posts I've seen for such an issue were in reference to CEMU, and don't really work in this case. I've opened my SD card on my computer, and all my pictures are there, exactly as I took them. I think the issue might be on the restoration side.
But then again, I also made another backup file after taking some new pictures of animals on the hard drive's game - and although they were saved on the "album" folder, they won't show up on "pict_book", so maybe they didn't even get processed?
I would love if someone had any idea for a solution to this, since I did want to 100% from what I already had. But then again, I might as well make a new save file now that I can download its DLC (I haven't done so yet). My only fear is: what if it's something wrong with the BOTW I downloaded? What if it won't process photos anyway, even in a new save file? (I can't really check that out quickly, since the great plateau takes so long) Could that be possible?
Another theory I have: could it be a compatibility issue given these BOTW copies are from different sources? Should I delete BOTW from my hard drive and try transferring it directly from the flash drive again? Should I try redownloading it from the file I got 4 years ago instead of NUSspli? Or do I just give up and create a new save file? (the Hyrule Compendium is one of my favourite parts of the game)
Would love to hear any opinions! Thank you for your attention.
