Why not? You're telling me that it's safe, yet we shouldn't do it? I remember Hykem saying something about it working on 5.5.1.
Being safe doesn't mean it's recommended. 5.5.1 "works," but the WebKit exploit is more unstable and we don't know what changed in 5.5.1 other than it affected the browser. For all we know, it could be the start of browser-blocking.

In general, there's no reason to update unless you're pre-5.0 or something, and then you should do a disc update to something between 5.0 and 5.3.2 inclusive.

Users on the 3ds updated and Nintendo silently inserted a phone home on the browser. 5.5.1 was a browser update, do you not think that the idea wouldn't be used again effectively? But if you want to update, than update. Just remember the folks who just had to update to 5.4 to play mario maker waited 5 months to get kernel access back while days after mario maker dropped 5.3.2 users who patiently waited where able to spoof and and enjoy Mario Maker on their machines and still had access to all the hacks that start flowing out. If you just can't wait..you deserve what you get.
