if you follow https://3ds.guide
one of the very first steps is creating a nand backup.
which can be achieved by godmod9

Thanks a lot mingles. i read the guide since i am on a 5.1.0-9U, it's directly by installing boot9strap instead of getting Homebrew first.
In case of problem is there a process using a backup NAND for fixing the bricks?
sorry for my english form:D:D:D

For GodMode9, Simply navigate your SD to the nand.bin and select it, select the Nand Image Options selection, then select Restore (Safe). Keep in mind I recommend backing up your ticket.db so that all your games show up if you downloaded some after the time of the backup.

If the guide says to. But I don't think it's necessary if the guide doesn't explicitly say it needs a cart.

No you don't, unless your dumping a cartridge rom you don't need a cartridge inserted.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
