Hacking How to upgrade SD card after installing CFW?

Hi, i'm new here.
I recently followed the guide on 3ds.guide to install cfw onto my New 3DS XLs 4GB SD card. I realized 4GB is not enough for games though . I have a 32GB SD card and I was wondering if its possible to clone everything to the 32GB SD card without having to go through the cfw process again

You literally just copy/paste everything from one SD card to the other.
Just make sure the 32GB is formatted to FAT32 first.

Yeah, just back up the data from the 4gb card into a folder on your PC (If you can't have 2 cards in at once) then insert the 32gb card, make sure it's FAT32 and just copy the data from the 4gb onto the 32gb and voila.

Yeah just to confirm i moved from 4gb to 64gb after modding.

Make sure it's FAT32 formatted and just copy every single file and folder over and it will be done.

Wouldn't mind trying 128gb

That would be really smart if using the freeshop. Plenty of storage for plenty of games. Can never "too many" games.

I hear it works fine if you format to FAT32. I could do with a couple of 128gb cards to be honest need one for my Pi3 with Retropie.

I think something went wrong? I did this the very simple thing of coping the files and data over. However, when I insert the new card into the system I get "The SD card cannot be read" The SD Card is a Micro SD with an adaptor to fit perfectly into the system. Any idea why it won't load? Little puzzled

I doubt it, very few computers won't let you format as FAT32 the fast way... If it really doesn't show up as one of the options, then use command line to format it the old way. For the old way, go on CMD with admin priviledges, then type in "format /FS:FAT32 X:" with "X" being the drive letter that matches the SD card and hit enter. Warning, this takes FOREVER on a 64GB memory card (last time I used this method it was on a 8GB USB stick and it took 12 hours), so it's highly advised to look for apps that can format cards for you instead...

I found a 3rd party software that allowed me to format to FAT32 - now just adding all the files back on to see if this works. Shall keep you posted.

Just for future reference, what cluster size did you format with? Depending on this, you may get some issues with homebrews and stuff...

Cluster size, not card size. Data is divided into blocks, that's what cluster size refers to. Stuff like TWLoader (playing DS game ROMs on your 3DS) require a specific one for example and SOME GBA injected games might be buggy if you have a bad size.

Windows Explorer can't do FAT32 formatting on flash memory larger than 32 GB. Use this program instead: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

I see what you mean now! I managed to format the SD card to FAT32. However, when I boot up the system it load blank? What would be the best cluster size to pick for a 64GB SD?

So I managed to format the SD Card to FAT32 - Copied over all the files - inserted the SD card into the 3DS - Black screen. Am I missing something?
The 64GB SD card was a micro card that has an adaptor to be able to insert it into the 3DS.
When I did the format on the SD card I set cluster 64+

What to do next?
