Hacking How to update to 4.0E using D2CKEY

I have a D2CKey chipped pal wii running 3.2E and would like to try out my new motion plus controller on Wii Sports Resort and
Tiger Woods 10. I presume for both that I will have to update to 4.0E ?

I already have the HBC installed and wanted to know whether simply updating through the internet has any adverse effects?

I have heard that updating with this chip causes back up games no longer to work, and/or unable to install use the usb backup loader?

I am intending to burn the games to play them.

I have searched the forums but am a little worried about doing anything wrong and just wanted to ask to be sure.
