Lies.
The admins are frequently soft touches so if you send a pleading letter/email saying your goldfish died and were having a bad day and promising to not go in the EOF/interact with that given person/not go on given threads you often find yourself unbanned, usually to keep that up for a month and then reverting back to what got you banned initially and getting banned for reals as the kids might say.
