@Rydian: Might want to add some kind of mention for the 6.60 OFW/CFW. Not that detailed yet, but something along the lines of "This shit just got real, new OFW without 100% working CFW".

Edit: Wrong thread.. Well anyways an idea

Hi all I currently got a psp-1000 running a GEN 5.50 with promo4. Just wondering if just installing OFW 6.20 then 6.20 PRO is enough or should I do some cleaning first.

Disable any plugins if not entirely remove the seplugins folder. Then uninstall/update to OFW and finally to PRO firmware.

MY 1000 is running 5.00 m33 and I get the following error when running recovery flasher -

This program needs at least 2.71 to work properly!

Sorry.... exiting....

If running on 3.52 or lower, launch this program from the xmb
and make sure kernal is set to 3.xx.

What do I do to get past this. (my machine of choice is a DS, so I know not what I do

What folder is hellcat's in on your memory stick?

Also go into the M33 recovery menu (shut the PSP fully off then hold R while starting it) and check around there for some mention of game kernel type, set it to 3.xx (or 5.xx).

Hi there,

I'm about to get myself a PSP GO, and I am checking the Tutorial and I cant understand one thing, there's a confusing notice in the tutorial:
Code:
Downgrade from any firmware up to 6.39

IMPORTANT!
If your PSP has never had a firmware 6.20 or less installed, then it cannot downgrade to 6.20.
You WILL brick it if you try.

&

Code:
Now to downgrade!

ÂÂÂÂDownload the downgrader, and copy the 63x Downgrader folder (from WITHIN the first folder) from the first download to /PSP/GAME on your memory stick (or the internal storage of the PSP Go).
ÂÂÂÂDownload the 6.20 official firmware (for PSP 100X/200X/300X) or (for the PSP Go), and put the UPDATE folder in /PSP/GAME/.

So new PSPs that have later FW than 6.20 are impossible to softmod? 'cuz I read that new PSPs are coming preloaded with 6.37 :S

Even though it had 6.37, you'll be able to load the temp cfw on it. There isn't really a reason you absolutely had to have perm cfw

Hello!

I just got a 1000 series with OFW 3.95 installed and I am unsure which route to take. I've checked around a bunch but I couldn't find a page describing the important differences between perm, temp and the different versions of PRO firmware 5.xx, 6.20, 6.39, etc. I am mostly interested in NES, SNES, GBC, GBA and PSX emulation so I'll choose whichever firmware grants me the best compatibility there. Can anyone recommend which version of the firmware is best, or should I just skip straight to the latest 6.39? Thanks.

The guide here is aimed at normal users like yourself. The main difference between the 6.x versions of PRO is the PSP models they can run on (the latest the firmware, the more models they support), and if they are permanent or temporary (the later the PSP model, the lesser chance of permanent working).

You can use any version of PRO on a 1000, so go with the 6.20 or 6.39 (soon to be 6.60 as soon as I upload the relevant files and modify the guide) path.

EDIT: Also, updated the guide for B9, 6.60, and added some help with the issue of which to go for.

I've got a few questions to ask:
How exactly do I uninstall my permenant 6.20 PRO-B8?
I read that I can permenantly install the 6.60 PRO-B9 on my PSP-2003 using the CIPL flasher and if so how?
When I do update, do I have to redownload all my PSN games again?

It's on the front page but here ya go:

Launch the version of the PRO updater/installer that's currently installed and press Triangle to uninstall it. If you're on 6.20 and the permanent patch is installed it will be automatically uninstalled.
Run the new installer for the latest version of PRO, press X to install.
If you're on 6.20 and want to use the permanent patch again, simply run it like you did before.

As for permanently installing 6.60 PRO-B9 on your PSP-2003 I am not sure. I read that the CIPL flasher will work on 1000's and 2000's that were fully hackable previously. A good way to know if it would work is if you were able to install one of the 5.XX CFW previously because I believe they used the same method. I am not certain however so a brick may be possible.
