I only really want to go permanent if it is easy/safe to do so. Flashing the temporary one was so quick and painless it doesn't seem like it staying on temporary should be a big deal.

By the way- now that I have flashed the temp, I only need to keep the "Fast Recovery" folder, right? What were those other folders that came with the 6.60 pro download- seplugins and sdk? They were not mentioned in the guide so I never copied them over

Looks like you have one of the older 3000's. AFAIK you can't run cIPL on 3000's, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

However, you can downgrade to a 6.20 official firmware and install 6.20 PRO, which can be permanent by use of the perm patch it comes with. It's pretty easy to do, it does come with minimal risk because it replaces files in the flash, but as long as you follow the instructions to the letter you won't have any problems.

IMO though, stick with 6.60 if you don't mind FastRecovery every shutdown. I rarely turn off my PSP fully, and whenever I do FastRecovery is quick anyway. I had problems running a certain game at 6.20 and the only solution that worked for me was upgrading to 6.60, so I did and I'm good right now.

Regarding folders, yes you only need to keep FastRecovery in your MS. If you have to uninstall PRO, just put back PROUPDATE. "seplugins" is where you'd put plugins, so chuck that in the root of your MS.

Okay, I don't know if there is something wrong but when I tried to make the PSP charge by USB when not in USB mode but it doesn't. I'm using a PSP-2000 with 6.20 PRO-B10 and this is what I did but it won't charge except in USB mode.

SELECT > Recovery menu > Configuration > Enabled charge battery when USB is lugged in > reset device

Any advice would be nice.

I'd suggest sticking with 6.60 over the 6.20 downgrade as well.

The charging is invisible, sort of. Just gotta' see if the battery percentage raises over time to see if it's working.

Ah okay so I assume the light won't change from green to orange. Cause when I watch the thing in the battery information it steadily increases then decreases again and sometimes the light flashes to orange then back to green. Thats normal right?

If it's increasing and then decreasing rapidly, that's the animation it used to show it's charging. The light should be organge while charging though. Loose connection?
Ah okay and it takes a while but after that the light turns orange and it shows that its charging, I think my connection is fine but I'm not sure when I use it for normal transferring files and stuff it goes fine.

Noob question, what is the probability of bricking my PSP if I use 6.60 Pro temporary?

Maybe 0.000001%. Only thing that can potentially cause bricking is if the PSP looses all power in the middle of flashing it.

Same as an official update btw.

Okay, thanks Xuphor. I just bought six new PSP games and I wanted to be I wasn't gonna screw up my PSP before my games even get to me.

Uh.... If you're going to flash the thing with 6.60 Pro (Temp or not), you know all games (including those 6) can be played for free, right? Just making sure you relize that before you spend a lot of $ for games on a pretty much dead system.

I'm a good person! I don't pirate games :P I used to then I got piracy syndrome and didn't finish any of them...

I'm getting a PSP Go that I bought off ebay. The previous owner says the current firmware on it is 6.35. Would it be best to go the 6.2 perma route or go with 6.60 temp? Thanks for your help.

Most games and homebrew work on 6.20, so if you want a permanent cfw go for that. I used to be in 6.20, it's nice, don't have to mind about FastRecovery and all that.

However, I switched to 6.60 after I couldn't get the Chrono Cross PSN eboot working past a certain point, through patches and popsloader. FastRecovery isn't that bad because I seldom shutdown my Go anyway, and it's pretty fast.

Well Chrono Cross is one of the games I plan on playing so maybe I should go the 6.60 route. I was reading through the thread and there was mention of being able to make 6.60 perma? Why isn't that discussed in the guide? If you can make it perma how would one go about doing that?

6.60 perma only works on 1K and the earlier 2K models, modifying the IPL on a later 2K or a 3K will brick it, so it's not mentioned so people don't try it themselves.
But if you are on 6.20 CFW then just stick with it or update to 6.60?

Whats the process to upgrade from 5.50 prom 4 to 6.60 perma on a pre 2000 that can handle It? Would I have to go back to ofw first? Is a pandora required? Do you lose any homebrew or emulators? If I lost cps I don't want to do It.
