    Hey.
I heard some guys are having problems with their SD Card.

    What do you need?
    • Windows PC
    • SD Card which is corrupted
    • Brain
    Instructions
Enter cmd in the Cortana field!
Open a Command Prompt as Admin!
Open a Windows Explorer and look which letter your SD Card has.
now enter this letter in your Command Prompt like this: C:\ or D:\ or E:\ or F:\
now enter chkdsk /f in the Command Prompt!
now wait until your Command Prompt allows you to enter a new command.

    What did that?
It restored every what it can.

    WARNING!
Your SD is restored, but damaged Data can be still on the device.
That means use your Switch only when you know that your Switch could crash all the time.

    TO FIX:
delete the files which have corrupted the SD Card
    for example:
when it was in RetroArch then reinstall RetroArch.
when it was in the normal Boot then remove the Nintendo Folder (test which file/s it is and then remove this/these one/s)

    DoNt Work
It is a method for only half corrupted SD cards. Happens often while a download it will tell you that it cant find any file then this will work!!!

I'd rather just keep my files backup up personally. That way I don't have to deal with possible corruption

Always good to have backups, a tutorial on restoring some corruptions doesn't hurt :)

No biggy, good tutorial dude. Have you had any luck actually restoring a corrupted SD via this method? I've attempted a few different times with no luck, always had to reformat + restore.

this tutorial is for sd cards where only a few files are corrupted. so when your switch wont boot or other errors appeard you need to delete the fixxed file

Wouldn't deleting the culprit solve the issue without running chkdsk anyway?

In my experience when I run into a corrupted SD card I can no longer access any files and am forced to re-format.

For those who dont know about chkdsk:

    What does it do?
Checks the file system and file system metadata of a volume for logical and physical errors. If used without parameters, chkdsk displays only the status of the volume and does not fix any errors. If used with the /f, /r, /x, or /b parameters, it fixes errors on the volume.

    Syntax
    chkdsk [<Volume>[[<Path>]<FileName>]] [/f] [/v] [/r] [/x] [/i] [/c] [/l[:<Size>]] [/b]

    Parameters

<Volume> Specifies the drive letter (followed by a colon), mount point, or volume name.
[<Path>] Use with file allocation table (FAT) and FAT32 only. Specifies the location and name of a file or set of files that you want chkdsk to check for fragmentation. You can use the ? and * wildcard characters to specify multiple files.
/f Fixes errors on the disk. The disk must be locked. If chkdsk cannot lock the drive, a message appears that asks you if you want to check the drive the next time you restart the computer.
/v Displays the name of each file in every directory as the disk is checked.
/r Locates bad sectors and recovers readable information. The disk must be locked. /r includes the functionality of /f, with the additional analysis of physical disk errors.
/x Forces the volume to dismount first, if necessary. All open handles to the drive are invalidated. /x also includes the functionality of /f.
/i Use with NTFS only. Performs a less vigorous check of index entries, which reduces the amount of time required to run chkdsk.
/c Use with NTFS only. Does not check cycles within the folder structure, which reduces the amount of time required to run chkdsk.
/l[:<Size>] Use with NTFS only. Changes the log file size to the size you type. If you omit the size parameter, /l displays the current size.
/b NTFS only: Clears the list of bad clusters on the volume and rescans all allocated and free clusters for errors. /b includes the functionality of /r. Use this parameter after imaging a volume to a new hard disk drive.
/? Displays help at the command prompt.

    Notes:
For your convenience, its better to first mount the drive you want to use, as explained on the OP.

Just curious this supposed to restore without deleting anything. I have an sd card that tells me I need to format it but I really don’t want to do that even though I have the files backed up because it’s an old sd card and I really don’t want to change the date of when files were created.

I had no idea SD card data could be recovered, given that it's all stored on non-volatile memory (NAND) as to being magnetically stored like a mechanical HDD. Still good to know.
