How to restore a corrupted SD card

Hey.
I heard some guys are having problems with their SD Card.

What do you need?
  • Windows PC
  • SD Card which is corrupted
  • Brain
Instructions
Enter cmd in the Cortana field!
Open a Command Prompt as Admin!
Open a Windows Explorer and look which letter your SD Card has.
now enter this letter in your Command Prompt like this: C:\ or D:\ or E:\ or F:\
now enter chkdsk /f in the Command Prompt!
now wait until your Command Prompt allows you to enter a new command.

What did that?
It restored every what it can.

WARNING!
Your SD is restored, but damaged Data can be still on the device.
That means use your Switch only when you know that your Switch could crash all the time.

TO FIX:
delete the files which have corrupted the SD Card
for example:
when it was in RetroArch then reinstall RetroArch.
when it was in the normal Boot then remove the Nintendo Folder (test which file/s it is and then remove this/these one/s)

DoNt Work
It is a method for only half corrupted SD cards. Happens often while a download it will tell you that it cant find any file then this will work!!!

If I may, I would suggest instead of "Cortana field" you could say press the Windows key + R to bring up the "run" dialog and from there type cmd and hit enter. This "run" dialog is universal and available to all versions of Windows.

I own a modded Switch with SX OS beta 2.8 and a Samsung microSD Evo+ 256 GB micro SD card.
The problem with my SD card is that even after formatting it (FAT32) and installing games via tinfoil or SX installer or even straight from the micro SD card, some bigger games with many files will get corrupted 90% of the time.
Most games can be played even when corrupted, up to a certain point when the game will crash / exit with an error.

What I've found was that if I manually copy files one by one from my HDD to the microSD, my games or firmware files won't get corrupted.
I've figured out when I was trying to update my switch OS to version 8.10 (offline using ChoiDujour nx) is that the file check before the actual update failed when trying to copy all firmware files in the same time from my HDD to the micro SD card. This gave me corruption 12 of of 12 tries.

But I took my time and copied just a few files at a time from my hdd to the microSD and it worked.

Is there any way I can fix my microSD 256GB Samsung Evo+ expensive card or should I just forget it and buy some other brand ? (the micro SD was bought this in March 2019)

In fact, there are ways to restore a corrupted SD card before using cmd to fix it. First, troubleshoot the hardware and then reinstall the SD card driver. Right-click on this computer > Device Manager > double-click on the disk drive > right-click on the SD card name in the sub-directory > select Uninstall > click OK > Unplug SD Card > Restart PC > Insert Card, it will be detected again.
