I have gotten far with cheat codes but im wondering if it would be better and at all possible to achieve this by following this guide?

No, doing this tutorial would do the same thing as using FPSLocker - so in case of ACNH it would result in 2x faster game.

The replies here are right that almost everything is tied to the frame rate, so no single code fixes the speed. I went through it system by system and just released the result: about 760 code patches plus 1,300 values in the game's parameter file, so at 60 FPS walking, dialogue, menus, fishing, villagers and effects run at normal speed. Every fix was timed side by side against the unmodified game, and the numbers are in the repo.

It needs version 3.0.3, not 2.0.6. Works on Ryujinx and on Atmosphere (a 2017 Switch needs a sys-clk profile, details in the README).
