Both my system locale and formats are in English (United States)
and this is what happens when I use nzone.vbs:

nzonevbs.png

It also the creates the nzone.macs file when I use it.

ody81 the complete instructions is on page 10, or follow the link Before anything else in the first post. The script is fully automated, no need to manipulate with nzone.macs file!

Well it looks like working fine, just check the MAC is changing with
netsh wlan show hostednetwork
However the .vbs version is only usable for 3ds firmware below 9.3

Wish I checked the thread earlier, oh well I got it working for now anyway by doing this.

nzone start base256 (uses my tablets MAC)
then deleting the .macs file
nzone.exe (now starts with the spoofed MAC)

This is the only way I could manage it but I'm connecting through the zone app and getting passes now. Phew. I'll read more on the instructions later thanks man :)

But I don't see it changing macs by itself even after 30 minutes. I just "nzone stop" then repeat the above procedure and it picks a new MAC.

So two last questions:

What is the actual difference between base256 and base16, and which is the preferred? Or will I get the same hits from either?

How long does it take for the MACs to cycle?

Thanks again!

oops edit: A third question, are the official zones still not working with windows? (49/77/18 etc.)

Worth the double post, MACs now cycle fine.

Needed to edit the scheduled task to start with or without AC power (was only on AC by default)
As I'm portable and on battery then duh ody, no the MACs didn't cycle.

Thankyou, I feel good :)

eLFe, so you'll getting the relayed streetpass from the real people too ;)

ody81 you can't use anything but BASE lists. The only difference with BASE 16 and BASE256 is the number of MACs and the delay between MAC changes.

Thanks for that, I'll take a shot in the dark and say 256 is more macs??

dd-wrt method working perfectly for me. Hooray! :)

Some questions though:

1. When I ran the telnet command /tmp/nzone stop, I noticed that the cron job listed in the dd-wrt control panel disappeared. When I run /tmp/nzone start, it doesn't reappear.

2. I feel somewhat uncomfortable leaving security disabled. Is it possible to limit access only to my 3DS?

I share your concern, and wanted to confirm because reports seem split 50/50 on this: is there a way to have WPA (hell I'd settle for WEP) security and have the 3ds accept it for streetpass, or does it have to be open?

Retrotheorist: if the answer to the above is "no", you may be able to use MAC filtering to lock it down to your 3ds. Of course, MACs can be spoofed, but that requires someone to actively work to get in to your network, including snooping on your wireless traffic and realizing that the 3ds is the intended device.

retrotheorist 1. cron job is what exactly cycling MACs, so if you're stopping it, job must not run and vice versa.
2. you can enable MAC filter and add 3DS MAC to allow list.
mwoody since fw 9.0 streetpass relay is not possible with any type of encryption for attwifi, since 9.3 it is also not possible for NZ@McD1 and most probably the rest of available unprotected Nintendo Zone SSIDs

Hello, I am new to homepass and try the method of using the nzone.exe.
I am using windows 7 and TP Link USB wifi adapter(WL723N),
however when I typed "nzone.exe start BASE256"(or BASE16) in the cmd.exe under C:\
it only showed "SWbemServicesEx" and then nothing happened, i.e No nzone.mac file was created.
I have tried the method posted here to solve my problem but it did not work(like change my language and so on to US(English)/move cmd and nzone to other root to try)
So anyone know what's the problem I am having? Thank you so much.
