BIG MOE, first of all thanks for your work and support!
I have a questions, technical maybe (being paranoid and trying to understand everything). I haven't installed HBC yet, but I read instruction on how to do it.
From that I see that you need only one reset and on the root of SD card you should have one boot.dol or boot.elf homebrew software to run.
In our case it is HBC that we want to install. But, in your package we can see two files - boot.dol and boot.elf which is weird (I think one of them will be never used as TPH loads boot.dol, and falls back to boot.elf if boot.dol is not found). And your instructions advise to load zelda game twice and reset twice and only after second reset we got HBC installed.

So, questions are:

1. What I'm missing here? Why it is so complicated compared to usual HBC install guide?
2. I guess that boot.dol is Wad Manager V1.3 and boot.elf is HBC. What is the reason of this setup?
3. Can I install latest HBC (1.0.1) using latest TPH (0.1beta1/2) and continue from [*Prepair Wii Console For Downgrade:] ?

Thanks for your time!

ok in your case , remove (boot.dol & boot.elf) from the root of your SD Card and put (boot.dol) for LBC from this link http://rapidshare.com/files/170002327/boot.dol in the root of SD Card and run the TPH again to install the HBC once finished all installation switch back the boot.dol files so you can have WadManager1.3 boot.dol in the root for recovery

or you can install latest HBC (1.0.1) using latest TPH (0.1beta1/2) and continue from ( *Prepair Wii Console For Downgrade: ) that should be fine too

you are ok , just run the Cios Downgrader ( in your case it is an updater as well ) and go to install system menu 3.2 that matches your region and then starfall and keep on going to get to your goals

Hey Big Moe,

Looks like you are the "go to guy" for hacking, I have a couple of questions. Hope you don't mind answering.
smile.gif

1) I used Any Region Changer to switched from 3.2J to 3.2U. I did not try cIOS Downgrader 1.2 but I'm guessing it also allows changing to a different region PLUS the ability to up/down grade to any versions available?

2) But at the same time, cIOS Downgrader lacks the capabilty to choose Wii Shop Channel of different countries like the ARC?

3) So in future if I want to upgrade to a higher firmware, is it advisable to do it through the normal way over the Internet or should I switch to cIOS Downgrader 1.2 instead?

4) *This point here is abit off topic...Anyways I was wondering whether you know anything about .wads. When I tried installing Mega Man 9.wad after using freethewads.exe, it gave this error (ret = -2011) and when I tried the .wad file again without using freethewads.exe, it installed successfully but clicking and loading the channel just loops me back to the wii menu. Any Thoughts on this?

5) I'm interested in knowing more about cIOS and what the different numbers mean or do. But I can't seem to find enough information off the web. Managed to scrap a little here and there though. If you could point me in the right direction or maybe do a Tutorial (not that you have to) on it I'll be most grateful!

6) Lastly what does this Custom IOS36 rev07 do?

* If anyone else could answer these questions kindly do so...much appreciated!

1- you are good with anyregionchanger
smile.gif
.
2- you are right , personaly I only use one shoping channel
smile.gif
.
3-using Cios downgrader 1.2 to update is the best way , though 3.2 is the most solid system menu so my advice is to stick with it
smile.gif
.
4- it is a corrupted Wad and try to install Wads from a trusted sources and be sure to install Starfall to have a recovery meny enabled on the system just incase (hope not) a semi-brick or a brick
smile.gif
.
5- Cios is a custom Ios so searching by IOS will give you more results (google , Wiki) good source to start from
smile.gif
.
6- it is a custom IOS by Waninkoko installs as Cios249 and give you the ability to access a part of the NAND memory that you'r not suppose to access by defult , and this used by homebrews and the loaders
smile.gif
.
any further questions or help needed , please ask , good luck

Hi,

I've looked through the forums and nearly worn Google out on this one. I presume it's me that's missing something simple as I haven't seen anyone else with the same error that didn't fix it instantly.
Using Big Moe's Installer v2 on a 3.4e Wii, I can install the HB chan. and run WM 1.3 and install v257-prod. I reeboot and open Custom WM 16 via HB chan. and try to install _fix, it returns the following error:

"opening WAD file, please wait...OK!
Installing WAD, please wait...
>> Installing title... ERROR! (ret = -1035)
Press any button to continue..."

I have tried different _fix and different WMs, both 1.3 and custom. I have formatted the Wii and started from scratch. All goes to plan untill the _fix. What simple little thing am I missing?

Refer to the guide on http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=119317.

It tells you what errors each number represents.

Thanks for the reply!

4) I have Starfall installed and recovery menu enabled. But I'll keep a lookout for trustworthy wads from now on.

5) I actually did try searching with IOS. The page from Wiki did not make alot of sense to me. I'll keep searching.

6) Ok. So are there any differences between Waninkoko's cIOS36 rev07 and cIOS37 rev 03? It says that cIOS is now based on IOS36 because IOS37 has some weird problems?

7) *New question. I read that IOS37 has a fixed signature-checking function. Am I right to say I should stay clear of this IOS and not install it? I checked and found that I only have IOS36.

Thanks for the reply ashesburn.
I have already seen that thread and know what the error means; there lies my problem...the fix tells me to install the _fix, which returns the error it is supposed to repair.

Hmm...then probably the fix did not do as it was supposed to? Maybe try the fix again and see whether it does fix the problem this time.

But then again, I did not do any of these so I'm not sure. Better wait for Big Moe's reply.

well, when it comes to Cios_fix install with ret-1035 just redo it again after restarting Wii some times in very special cases it works with Wad Manager 1.3 and not Custom WM , so give it a few trys and tell me please
wink.gif

for ret-116 just run the Cios Downgrader after rebooting both router and Wii and installing Ios36 rev7 from waninkoko , this should do it , and please post the results back

I am trying on am american machine at 3.4u. I take the twilight 3.4 bin, rename it to data.bin, and move only that file to the proper folder in rzde

Then, i copy the file over, load the game, load the save. The problem is there is too saves, a Twilight 3.4 bin save and a twilight 3.4 bin v3 save.

The first save runs something, then gives me the option to install a whole bunch of things. It doesn't restart the machine.

The second save crashes my Wii and never goes anywhere.

Any idea what i did wrong?
