Going into recovery mode doesnt seem to work anymore? Neither does rebooting the machine. Im on 4.1 and its prompting for the 5.0 update.

My Switch prompts for the update when trying to boot Kirby, but doesn't ask for it anywhere else. It should be noted that when I say it prompts for the update, It asks me to "Download" it, not install it. So there's a difference there.

I need this confirmed. If it really doesn't work I'm going to set up update blocking.

Same here.

Also, it downloaded it even though I disabled autom. updates.

I'm kinda fucked now, time to stop spamming A when opening games. Hope CFW won't take too long haha.
I will try the recovery menu again and see if I can get rid of it...

It seems to be a Kirby thing then.

It only applies to software updates.

yeah i think 4.1 update made it so you cant delete the software update via recovery mode. God i want to download some games from the eShop. I hope TX comes through with an update soon

>_________> Why don't you learn to SEARCH people?!

1. Shut down your Switch
2. Start in recovery mode
3. Select update now
4. Interupt the proces (press X to cancel is in the screen)
5. Restart and profit.

Eh, didn't know that because elsewhere it said just booting to the menu would erase it.

I really do hope your solution works, otherwise I'll end up with a 5.0.0 Switch today...

All searches and threads I've seen have stated that booting into the menu alone would fix this issue. In fact, that's all it took for me prior to 4.1. So lets not jump people for not knowing better, yeah?

I tried this on 4.1 and it didn't work. My system has been in airplane mode since I realized it auto downloaded 5.0.

Edit: It does work. I'm dumb and had WIFI on in Airplane Mode!

Well it looks like its attempting to download it. So its no longer on my system. How do i get it to stop prompting me for an update? Is that possible?

For all of you: I will make a Youtube vid to show you exactly how it is done! Yeah? (I really don't see the point of "yeah")

Days ago delete my Wi-Fi connection from the Switch and leave it in airplane mode being in 4.1.0. Today I went to try it and I found that it was connected to the internet and with the pre-loaded update. Please be careful to leave the Switch in the hands of those who do not understand the effort of being able to enjoy the Scene.

Fake news

On 4.1.0 with the update downloaded.
System settings says update ready instead of listing the firmware.
Turned Switch off completely.
Launched into safemode with power + volume buttons.
Turned off again.
Turned back on. System update gone and now in system settings firmware clearly displays as 4.1.0.
Games launch with no prompts.
