Hacking How the 3ds handles compatability mode

Don't worry, it's just some random guy on the internet trying to give someone a hard time. To get a rise.
That's a troll, I say that's a troll, son!

I'm sorry if anyone thinks I'm being insulting or anything of the like, but "why would I lie" is hardly trust inducing... And what the hell is wrong with wanting to confirm things myself? I'm flabberghasted that so many people who are a part of a forum where lies and half-truths are part of the day to day routine (do a quick search of every sub forum on GBAtemp and I guarantee you'll find at least a couple new threads a day either with outright hoaxes, or links to faked youtube videos asking if it's real or not) would be against anyone wanting to give extra confirmation on any topic.

Except there's a difference between someone who joined in the past 24 hours, no posts, going "OMGEE GUIZE I HAZ 3DS EMURATOOOORRRRR WATCH VID AND DO SURVEYERS TO DOWNLOOD" and someone who has almost 1300 posts and has been an established member of the community for near three years. And if someone was claiming you wrong when the proof is in a video, I am pretty sure you'd argue in your defense as well. You're also the only person to have a hard time believing that something bad can happen to your system. ;)

-shakes head- It's not that I don't believe something bad can happen.. obviously malicious code is designed to be malicious. Anyways, I think we've both hit an impasse on this, so may as well just drop it.

for some reason on 3ds in ds mode time(NULL), used in homebrew for use of the RTC, fails to update as the system is running so all you get is the time the system started ds mode.

But you refuse to accept that I am legit about something that would have no benefit or any sort of a lulz-factor for me to troll with, lol.

Edit - but regardless, I agree.

What does the payload of this bricker specifically do? Like can it be messed around with to try and produce a crash or other result.

Quoting ichifly, "firmwarerewriter overwrites the NVRAM from 0x2000 on backward (like the old DS bricker only that I useed 0x2000 instead of 0x4000) (the DSi lost some settings)"
I'll admit I don't know what that actually means, nor what it actually does, just what the final result is.
