How often do you lose the 3d effect (due to moving the system)?

Had my 3ds since launch, and have mostly been playing with the 3d off, since it wasn't too impressive to me. However when I picked up Ocarina of Time 3d today, I was REALLY impressed by the 3d in it. Definitely the best the system has to offer so far. While I really enjoy playing the game in 3d, is extremely annoying because I have to remain perfectly still while playing. Any slight movement and the 3d effect is ruined. Sadly, its just easier to play with the 3d off, because then I can actually let myself become immersed in the game, instead of constantly trying to maintain the correct viewing angle.
Personally, I find that I lose the effect maybe about once per minute, because I just have trouble holding the darn thing still. I'm curious how well its working out for the rest of you guys.

I've primarily resorted to turning up the 3D during longer dialog sequences and cutscenes and turning it off the rest of the time. I like the free look now with the controller, but it's a major pain with 3D on.

i barely lose it for a second, for me, the angle is not a problem, so about 2-5 minutes, but for just a second, it's not annoying
however i need to get used to the "pop-out" effects

I never lose it. I could very easily move my head a couple of centimetres left or right and still see the 3D in the same way. Could be because my eyes have less gap between them?

Edit: Could move the system too and it remains the same.

For me I lose the effect on the 3DS about once per 2 minutes and It's annoying. The screen is just flat out too small for 3D anyways.

If Im using my active 3D glasses on my 3DHDTV the 3D effect is never lost and It really looks good as well as viewing on a large screen.

I like to tilt my 3DS at an angle to see the left and right images inverted for extreme 3D pop out effect. It really good.

Same with me, I don't have much of a problem with it.

I pretty much just keep it turned off unless there is a cutscene showing. The 3D hurts my eyes after awhile, and I don't have to put up with Navi telling me to take a break every 15 minutes.

I keep the 3D on at any time I am able to keep the device steady. A bus and such would not allow the effect obviously. As for breaking the effect in average scenarios, I can go a long time due to learning to micro adjust much like I do with driving. It just comes naturally to me.

It doesn't bother me to move positions every 5-10 minutes. It breaks 3D, but only for a few seconds. Now the thing that REALLY bothers me is the 3D "ghosting" or "shadowing" whatever you want to call it, you can see a very faint shadow of the image kid of overlapping behind it. I really don't know how to explain it well, but that bugs the hell out of me.

In case you are just stupid and not trolling, you slide the 3D switch down to the bottom.

I can't even see the 3D, putting it on waste's battery for some gimmicky little effects.

For some areas in Super Mario 3D land, you can really get confused if 3D isn't turned on.

Have to agree with you there.

I get headaches from the 3DS's 3D not 3D in general so I just keep it off and I don't bother with games that force you to use it.

Just because you (and pretty much you alone :P) can't see it, that doesn't make it a gimmick.

Not really, there are quite a few who can't see it, but yes it is a gimmick.

Let's just say that's true. Lots of people, including myself, can see it very clearly. The problem is on your end.
