yeah... so i realized that last month, I had a total upload-traffic of over 4 gb,
about a whole dvd uploaded to the internet... i just dont know, why its so much

i haven't been streaming stuff, nor torrenting or uploading more than a few jpg
images or txt files, I have no idea where those 4 gb could have come from.

I know normal surfing causes some upload, but I still think that 4 gb is a little
bit suspicious... just seems like a lot.

what I have been doing was letting youtube playlists run over night a few times
(resulting in about 80mb upload over an 8 hour period), also trillian is running all the time.
also, I'm accessing the internet through a wifi router with only about a 50% signal, so there
might be some additional upload if something has to be resend a few times to arrive uncorrupted?

but appart from that, I'm not sure where those numbers could've come from :/

so if you can, it would be nice if I could see a few numbers of you guys, maybe that'll help me be less paranoid

thanks a lot and have a fine day

...guys, the title said only for those that dont intentionally upload much.

Its only wep secured, due to nintendo ds's, but im using a mac adress filter and its set so that i have to add numbers by hand (theres nothing thats not right here in the house on the list).
so while everyone and their grandmother should be able to monitor whats send between me and my router, they shouldnt be able to access it

Do you play any games online? Chat? other things that require interaction online?
4GB really isn't that much in this day and age...

as i said, I've got trillian running at all times, but mostly passive, and I rarely (about 15 minutes a day) play ragnarok online.

I know 4gb isn't much for this day and age, but it sounds like incredibly much when you're not really trying to send, you know.

I mean, thats like 10% of my hhd content every month o.o

MAC filtering with WEP is still trivial to crack and spoof as long as there is an approved device connected.

But still, you say you use the DS? Online play might do it. 4GB over 30 days is 133mb/day. 5.5mb/hour. It sounds perfectly reasonable that you are using that much upstream bandwidth for your entire connection.
