Hi everyone!
I’m currently building a custom mod pack for Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch, and I’m curious about one specific thing: what is the highest stable RAM usage this version of the game can handle before it starts crashing?
Here’s some context. I noticed that some games on the Switch — for example, Persona 4 — immediately reserve around 3.6 GB of RAM on launch. Skyrim behaves differently: its RAM usage is dynamic. The game usually starts at around ~2.6 GB and then gradually increases as needed.
After my mod list passed 200+ mods, I noticed that in certain locations — both during loading screens and in the overworld — RAM usage rises from the usual ~3.2 GB up to around ~3.4 GB, often sitting near 3.3 GB.
My preliminary testing also suggests that 3.6 GB is a critical limit for Skyrim on the Switch, because whenever the game reaches that point, it almost always crashes instantly.
So I’d like to ask the community:
1. What is the highest stable RAM usage you’ve seen in Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch?
2. Is 3.6 GB truly the “hard ceiling” for this port?
3. And most importantly: is there any method, patch, launch option, or configuration that allows you to “cap” or fix a desired RAM usage value so the game doesn’t exceed the critical threshold?
