OP
We cannot escape the heat death of the universe, if a false vacuum comes we'll die instantaneously, nuclear war could destroy the planet.

But what about other calamities? If a new disease came around to fuck us all there would probably be a handful of people out there with some strange genetic mutation which grants them resistance/immunity to it; there's also an Indian island which is separated from the rest of the world. We probably have enough resources and engineers to come up with a method of regenerating the ozone layer if a gamma ray burst hits us. Even in a worst case scenario food shortages and climate change wont kill all of us.

IIRC there is a specific wavelength of light that is only omitted for a relatively short amount of time for a dying star that if it hit the earth via a direct path (which in itself is highly unlikely) it will deteriorate the entite ozone layer within a matter of seconds.

That may be false memory though

Ive heard this at tv news recently
Since August 1st this year, we were living on credit, ressources wise
It means that we consume more ressources, food, air, oil, water, etc, than what the Earth is able to produce in a year
