Hacking How does Nintendo recognize which console you're accessing online with? Pretending ur Wii is a Wii U

I ask this question because of the recent news stating that offline gameplay will be shut down on the Wii, but will still work if the Wii games are played on the Wii U.

On Android devices, one can modify the 'build.prop' and pretend their device is another. How can this be done on a modded Wii? Is anyone familiar with a file accessible using a File Manager that can be modified to trick Nintendo into thinking you're running a Wii game using a Wii U, when it reality it's run on a Wii?

Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games will not be affected but it will not be possible to use online features of Wii software played in Wii Mode on Wii U, and of Nintendo DS games played on Nintendo 3DS family systems.

Thats from the gbatemp post about it, so I guess that older games on the newer consoles will not work at all.
