Hacking how does loading a system update from usb work??

I want to know if its possible to downgrade via an old dumped update... I know this isn't going to be done like a kindle fire hd 6 and all that but, if not... can anyone who is technical in the ps4 modding scene tell me how the updates work and why we have older updates dumped in the first place?? if you have a jailbreak, why do you need to update if you can spoof your system for online..

Sometimes those "upgrades" were for the exploit patches, sometimes there were actually new API changes to the PSN or game system in general. You can't always be sure things will work by version spoofing.

And downgrades, even if there's a way currently, I don't think anyone will reveal it as it's 100% need an un-patched exploit to achieve. If they were willing to release such method, an public jailbreak would already be around.
