How do you upload stuff to Github?

I have a folder with all my stuff in it. I created a repository with the Windows 7 Github app. I then selected my folder to upload. It only uploaded the files in the folder, but I have folders inside of that folder too that need to be uploaded. Do I need to zip it?.. Please help me.

I've used GitHub as a member of a team, and sadly I didn't set it up. But the folders should be uploaded without a need to zip it. We used GitExtension (I think that was the name?) for it, and as long as you committed and pushed the files, everything was uploaded without any issues. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
