That's a LaserDisc, they're not entirely digital. Compact Discs contain digital audio, whereas LaserDisc relies on an analogue video format—they're not the same.
Yes, but you could say they are very similar

The difference is whether the the little pits correspond to an FM signal vs 1s and 0s

The big difference is basically just what the playback device does with the information

Do not talk about boom boxes; no boxer can boom their strikes the way I can.

My jokes are dynamite. Face the music cause you are following my tempo and it won't be beat.

Drop that beat; admit defeat!

you try to send me to my doom, but boom! There it is!

I send em down, fast like a UFClown.

I defeat the ones who think they have rhythm for lunch, with a punch, and maybe you think it's a hunch, till they hear their own style break CRUNCH!

Keep up the tempo, or maybe you just only trained in Kenpō!

They have digital audio though. Laserdisc was the (home) format that introduced Dolby Digital and DTS.

Laserdisc, as a format, was around for a super-long time, too. started in the 70s iirc, and they sold laserdiscs with HD Video on it at the end.
Thats nuts! HiVision was the name for the HD ones. Those were released in 1994.

... DVDs released in 1996! Just think about that.
I dont think we even got HiVision LDs and Players in the west. Most likely we wouldnt even have had TVs to play them either.

Yeah, even VHS got HD releases (D-VHS) but it happened so late that most of us never even heard of it.

and both these super-different formats have one thing in common!

... both players for these formats were SUPER loud.
HiVision cause of the drive (they had to spin those discs insanely fast!) and D-VHS because they installed an industrial, high-speed fan at the back (looked like an industrial 80mm to me).
You NEEDED a good sound-system tod rown those out, big speakers were definitely not optional there ^^;
