From searching through the web, I find random 3ds iso download sites. How can I test to see if they're legit? I want to find a legit site first before I buy a Sky3DS.

The Sky3DS uses the .3ds format, not the .iso format.
If you find a 3DS rom in .iso format then that's a pretty freaking huge sign it's not legit.

Yeah I don't really know what I'm talking about. The games ARE in .3ds format, I just tend to call everything an iso ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Do you know how I can change the question so it reflects .3ds format rather than iso?

Check the CRC32/MD5/SHA or any other available checksum (usually CRC32+MD5) and validate it against release notes found in the NFO file (open it in an NFO reader or in Notepad).
