How do I set up a Wii remote as a mouse?

I want to set up a Wii remote as an HTPC mouse. I've seen tutorials on how to set one up with glovepie, but I'm not sure if that can be configured to run on boot?
I'm aware that there's HTPC remotes with gyro mice, but the Wii remote has the sensor bar for better pointer accuracy.

kodi/xbmc should have native support, and there are a few plugins to enhance things too.

Beyond that I am not sure what we are suggesting to use a wiimote with a PC these days, and whether you will have to chain that with some kind of joypad to mouse or keyboard program.

I'll take a look at that.

Is it lightweight? I don't want it hogging up too many resources if I'm in a game, especially if I'm live streaming.

When you said HTPC I took it literally -- XBMC, these days going by the name kodi, is one of the main home theatre media player setups (be it as a standalone OS or program that runs on top of them).
What its abilities to interact outside the program will be I have no idea at this point, but it is sure to be heavier than even an old python script someone made.

I just want to be able to press the power button and enter a game, Blu Ray or web browser without a mouse or keyboard like my brother's Xbox One.
Perhaps I should ask around on the kodi forums, perhaps there's a feature to pause kodi in the background while a game is running. I don't see anything about Wii Remotes on their wiki but it sounds like it might let me navigate with an Xbox controller which is even better.

I installed kodi but im confused what to do next and noone's answered my thread requesting help on kodi forums.
Blu Ray playback is mentioned in settings but i see no mention of a disc player in the main menu.
I also want to add everything in my start menu to it and I want to startup into it.
I'm not sure how the latter would work with the ms account login screen. Is there some sort of custom W10 startup screen skin with controller support?

Oh yeah!

It's kinda simple:
1. Install blueman-applet and your preferred mapper
2. Pair the Wiimote using blueman.
3. In your mapper, all of the functions of the wiimote (Buttons, Accelerometer, Gyroscope)
4. Profit.

Unfortunately, unless you have a Mayflash Dolphinbar, using the sensor bar isn't gonna be helpful.

Will this work on Windows? And is the Mayflash necessary to establish a connection in the first place?
