You have trinket m0, rebug switchme, custom one from Aliexpress or someone else or you can even strip down the sx pro dongle and use that.
This thread has probably the most install diagrams and info you can find.

Get a trinket m0. There's no reason to buy a chip from any specific company. Support is better with arudino devices.

Look at the modchips forums here there is always a thread at the top from mattytrog with support on install.

Depending on how your soldering skills is, I would say decide whether to do it yourself or have someone else do it for you, Trinket M0 is an excellent choice.

I used a RCMX86 thats cost about $12 from china had it in 10 days its probably the smallest option and easy to fit inside the switch’s case

As for soldering that can be hard without the right tools and alot of practice first. I did mine under a electric microscope

You should also look into emmc upgrade too that way you get the most of your switch

I purchased an RCMX86 mainly as I have seen videos using it and with the trinket m0 id have to take off the led + usb which will probably be a bit too difficult for me considering my soldering lvl.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
