Now, I know nothing about how the whole coding the translations into the game works, but there really isn't a whole lot of dialog in the two Ouendan games, I was wondering why no one ever did a translation patch for it.
I've already beat them both to hell and back in Japanese, so I don't really have any real use for it, but it strikes me as odd that two extremely popular Japanese DS games never got translations...

Ooooh I know this one!

It's because there's already Elite Beat Agents!

Not only are they not the same game, but IMO they're overall more fun than EBA, thats just my personal opinion though.

Err..
Maybe because we don't need it?

Cmon, the game is exactly the same as EBA.

So, you don't have to know japanese to play it...

True, but what about the story? The stuff on the top screen.

There's a story?

Not the overall story, I mean the stories of each individual stage.
Come on, some of the dialog in EBA was pretty funny.

to be honest, when u actually play the game i dont think you can even look at what's going on in the top screen because the game is just way too crazy to let u even glimpse at the top screen.
and the intermission parts are pretty easy too understand with all those over-exaggerated expressions

The gameplay mechanics are the same. But are the actual levels themselves identical?

In short: no

In long: nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ooooooooooooooooooooooooo

lol, Yahtzee

anyway, i, personally, think there should've been a translation for the comics/manga/story/whatever. it would change the game to actually understand whats going on.

The graphic format isn't too complicated. Standard NSCR+NCGR+NCLR with LZ77 compression.
just curious, is there a program that can apply the map file to the NCGR?
because what I've been doing so far was creating an NARC file with the palette/map/graphic so I can apply the map with the graphic on crystaltile..

My guess would be because most people don't play Ouendan/EBA for the plot.

To be honest, the dialogue that I picked up wasn't much you couldn't get from the ictures.
"Make this coffee!"
"I'm never going to skate!"
And stuff like that. It's really nothing that stellar. (Then again, my Japanese wasn't good enough to pick up on the long sentences with how fast they went by, so I did miss some stuff.)

I started one to view the graphics when I was messing around with Summon Night, but chopping a new image into tiles and taking different palettes, rotation, etc. into account is more complicated.
