Hacking Translation Looking to do a translation for the first time ever. How do I start?

I'm looking to translate one of the PawaPuro games on the PSP (I'm split between PawaPota 4 or PawaPuro 2011). I've never hacked a PSP game before. The most experience I've ever had with cracking open games is using Tinke to extract sprites from Powerful Golf for the NDS. That was a while ago.

I'm wondering what should I expect as a first-timer? What tools should I use, I've heard that MadEdit is useful for this kind of thing.
