Gaming How can i slow a pc down running xp?

As the title says i want to slow a pc down running windows xp (lol)

Is there anyway i could make bootup time/shutdown time slower?
And make the machine perfom slower aswell.

The machine got these specs

1gig of ram
1.9Ghz

And has sp3 installed.

i know one thing to make it slower at shuting down. Windows Live Messenger is corrupted and crashes every boot. it made my aunt's laptop to shut off very long and i waited 20 minutes every shut down.

install stardock programs to make it boot slower and open slower. stardock desktop. install a lot of programs that will be opened every boot.

well you could make a boot startup, which delays it before it boots or shuts down. Run lots of background apps, like useless ones. install everything you can. put all the programs in the start folder.

install a shitload of random drivers. fill up the harddrive. erase the caches
Search 'speed up xp'


...Then do the exact opposite.

I'll sell you a stick of 256MB RAM and you could use that. And I could probably pull the 300MHz processor out of the ancient computer in my atic and just give it to you.

Also, just install multiples of the same stuff, just in different places. Then put both of them in the startup folder.

Go to MSConfig and turn on every single thing in the startup tab. And in the boot tab, choose advanced and alter the max memory to 512MB or something.

"upgrading" to vista is probably the easiest way

in seriousness, I have no idea why you want to do this, but you can just go into the bios and change the processor speed to be a lot slower on many motherboards. if you don't feel like messing around with that you could just add a program like super Pi to the startup folder.

Slow browser = IE7 or Firefox with EVERY ADDON!!!

make a bat script that keeps creating 1MB files so pretty soon, the computer will be full which means very slow and they can't really operate

This is a weird topic with a weird person. Get yourself a 256MB RAM and enjoy the slowness of your machine. Install Vista Themes if you like as it will slow down EVERY SINGLE MOMENT of your PC. I guarranty it will make it slow

Follow my path as I have a slow 2002 256MB laptop and I installed a Windows Vista/7 theme and i transformed it into one and it's fucking so slow I need to reformat it. Use Stardock to add those cute icons to make your PC a MAC. My laptop is FUCKING slow. Torrent the themes if they require you to pay
