He didn't mention a constraint on the price.
Another solution for him: The Dutch railway has now Wifi in some trains. He could buy a train ticket and go play there. There are more public places with Wifi. Or get netstumber, go wardrive and if you find an unsecured Wifi and go play there.
If you like to stay at home you can, by using a WEP to WPA2-PSK gateway. This can be done in a secure way using the following:
- Get a PC with 2 WLAN cards
- Setup card 1 as WEP access point
- Setup card 2 as WPA2-PSK client
- Install router software to gateway between the two cards (Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) for example)
- Allow card 2 to connect to your home network
- Set up a Faraday cage
- Put the WEP antenna inside the Faraday cage
- Important: leave the WPA2-PSK antenna outside the Faraday cage
- Also important: properly shield the cables and the cable inlets into the Faraday cage
- While inside the Faraday cage you can play on line!
Nobody can hack into your WEP this way since the Faraday cage will shield all RF from outside, so the WEP access point is secure now!
There is still a small security leak. If you open the door to the Faraday cage someone could hack into your network. Therefore I suggest to install a door-switch to prevent that, as long as the door is open have a relay decouple your WEP antenna. If you do not like relays then you can also design a Faraday cage with 2 doors so no RF leak will occur when you enter or leave the cage.
I think this solution is even simpler than the one I presented before, doesn't break your DS warranty and doesn't need any illegal activities. And still no other DS card needed. Good Luck!
