ROM Hack How can I extract the game icon from the nds roms?

With the command line of

ndstool -x xxx.nds -b xxx.bmp

I just got a non-image file ....

Is there anything wrong with me ?

Try NDSHeader, always works for me

If you just need the icon, you can always go here: http://gbatemp.net/newgon/
Search for the game you want, then copy the icon..

Thank you guy, I knew the site of nds list, it's cool, but it's not my need...

I am coding for a batch tool for my nds collection, one of the functions is extract icon from the rom

And it seems that the file extract with "ndstool -x xxx.nds -b xxx.bmp" just like "ndstool -x xxx.nds -t banner.bin", it's not the icon file, it's a bug ?

It seems that the command CODEndstool.exe -x ".nds" -b file.bmp exports the WHOLE banner.bin file, including the image.
Yes, "-t" also extracts the whole banner.bin file as well.

I've also tried including the game info text -- I used Ragnarok DS, so my line was:

ndstool.exe -x "Ragnarok DS (U).nds" -b file.bmp "Ragnarok DS;XSEED Games;"

but no luck with that either.

Maybe NDSTool can't extract the icon alone?


I'm going to try something, that might work... if it does, I'll update here and let you know.

Well... you can unpack DSBuff with .NET Reflector, so I've been looking at the code and trying to see what it does... but I have no skill or knowledge when it comes to coding at all...

It seems that the save icon is "button12" if you want to have a look at it yourself.

What is it you are trying to do?

Just use NDSCrc, it will package the rom into an archive along with it's Icon, Nfo file, cover and ingame screen shot. All the icons will be downloaded from Advanscene.
