No, it doesn't require any programming. You will probably want to update the firmware, which is easy as burning a dvd and running it. Yes, a wii-clip is just pressed firmly on a drive chip. It fits tightly around it.

This video makes it pretty easy to see how it is installed. It's a clip with the Argon chip, but it's installed the same way. (youtube.com/watch?v=D5RmaIsZrVU) You will want to watch another video on how to open the wii first.

you can order a wiikey presoldered to a wii-clip from dubsoutlet -- I got mine from there. Very good price and fast shipping. He's based in NY, USA, so you should get it fast. Go to the link below, select presoldered. Also, make sure you get a triwing screwdriver. He also sells a small philips head screwdriver if you don't already have one of those.

does a wiikey + wiiclip require an programming? Also curious question, how do these solderless mod chips work. I mean it seems to me like you're just laying the mod chip on top of a driver chip in the wii. It's probably in the include installation guide, but I'm just not seeing how the chip is attached.

yes, youre clipping it onto the drive, Its soldered to the little wiiclip thing, then clipped on to the drivechip. =]

Oh, and I just thought of this, I have a NTSC wii console, which if you'll note there's two different TP save files for the US version of TP, can anything go wrong by selecting the incorrect save file?

Well, from what I have read, you can't do any harm by using the wrong save, but I haven't tried it myself. Also, don't forget to get a triwing screwdriver.

You all seem to be under the impression that autoboot discs are trucha signed. You are mistaken.

The autoboot is a Wii-function and it gets activated by a byte in the discs header. (you can actually hexedit it yourself)
So ofcourse samhushs solution worked. It's a pretty good idea though. I wonder if I should install the twilight hack just in case something like this should ever happen to me... On the other hand I'm still on 3.2, so I could use the turcha disc. Guess I'll do it when/if I update to 3.3.

PS: My choice would be a Free Clip, as YAOSM is imo the best chip for the old drives, but if you really mainly want the chip to recover your Wii it's not that important.

UGH, my bank sucks, and I can't get a paypal account (well I mean I can, but I can't connect my card or bank to it) so as a result I cannot get the wiikey + wii-clip + triwing screwdriver from dub's outlet, and this sucks because that place had a decent price. $10 cheaper then the other places I looked. Can somebody help me find a place that matches dub's price and accepts regular credit cards and not solely paypal.

That's going to be tough, because that is the payment option of choice for almost all mod sites. I've never ordered from them, but you can get one a modchipcentral.com without paypal. They might pricematch, but who knows. First, I would email the guy at Dub's Outlet. He may let you send him a money order. He seems to be a pretty cool guy.

just make a txt file with your CC info ... put it in a password protected zip and send it to the guy after you make email contact.

I have done it before on other sites that would make my CC lockup if I used them. (Theft Flags)


If your really paranoid. Do it in 3 separate files. then 3 separate passworded zips. 1 for the CC#. 2 for the Exp Date and 3 For the Code on the strip at the back.

yes, yes it was, but I recall having exactly four channels installed on the second page, and the installation of this bad channel would've made it the fifth channel on the second page or the first channel of the second row on the second page. If I remember correctly you can see the first channel of each row on the second page from the first page.

Well because someone told me that if you installed a vc game with a bad banner on the page where the homebrew channel is it shouldn't brick your wii if that page is full, but obviously that's not the case with you.
