If all you're interested in doing is stopping it from getting scratched up, then a drawstring bag made from a microfibre cleaning cloth might be worth considering. Dead easy, too - it'll involve running it through the sewing machine two, at most three, times.

As a bonus, you could clean the fingerprints off your DS without taking it out of the bag too.

I'm gonna go through a process of using a beanie I got for Xmas (that doesn't fit me) and sew it up as a nice DS sleeve. =p

I'm sure you can do something similar if you can find a nice cloth around.

There really isn't a need going into so much trouble to making a DS case, when you could buy a DS case - they're not expensive.
