Yes, and I would trust Serebii over Gamefaqs and 4chan anyday.

Serebii has rarely been wrong, and common sense would tell me that Nintendo would not be so foolish as to make a gimicky device mandatory to play an actual game that barely relates to it story-wise. Again, if you lost it or it was damaged you could never play your game again.

I mean if this had been that Personal Walking Trainer game then yes I could see this as the case because that's all the story and purpose of that game revolves around. However this is Pokemon HG/SS, not Walk with My Pokemon so I can play a real DS Game.

But seriously there is a strong possibility that this will never happen, those things look like they are extremely easy to use, and what use will this have in game, I can't think of any, I don't want to look like a ****** carrying this around just to play the real thing, and I doubt kids will use this anyway. =/

Just to say, I talked to someone out japan who got the game earlier today (clonecharizard) and he said that you DON'T need the pokewalker to start the game.
