I just sent the people at r4ultra.com an email. Will let you guys know if I get a response.

there is a nintendo fan site in my language confirmed there is a guys using R4 ultra takes 7 badges no problem (random freeze but not as much as the others)

Only one confirmation might be a troll.

With the less than 8000h thing, does the AP enable when the flashcart accesses that region? Or is it that it just sees that it can? If it's the first one, is it not possible to have an AR code that in theory redirects flashcarts like what happens in retail carts?

By my understanding (and I'm probably wrong), it has to do with the ROM noticing RAM memory.
 
Just beat Whitney. Got my third badge. Definately made freezing much more annoying, freezing after 3.

Test with seven badges:

Badges used: The first seven in Johto & Just Whitney's + the first six in Kanto.

Test so far: Game cuts to a black screen. Does not load save.

R4, Soul Silver, Firmware 1.22

Currently removed all badges but Whitney's. Game appears to be playable (as ignorant and/or lazy as it sounds, I don't wanna actually count it all the way to 20, when I have a sneaking suspicious it'll crash). It is not the sequence of events, but the number of badges.

It's both
More badges = Less events till freeze

Badges/Events -
0 badges: 24 events
1 badge: 21 events
2 badges: 15 events
3 badges: 3 events
4+ badges: Rumored to be unplayable. (Save will not load)
7 badges: Rumored to make allow more events. (Does not work 99% of time)

RARELY CRASHING DOES NOT MEAN WORKING PERFECTLY.
THOSE "RANDOM" CRASHES TYPICALLY FOLLOW THE 24 EVENT PATTERN.

CURRENTLY WORKING:

Acekards work 95% of the time, but freezes have been confirmed.
Latest version of Desmume can play the game (occasional freezing reported).
No$GBA has a fix which makes the game playable (Not a full fix).


CODETHE PROBLEM:

We do not know specifically how this AP works.
The Open on No$Zoomer or simply press F12.
6. Open your game again. RESET function won't work, as you will get a rom image crash.
7. Choose your game just like you would do it on a real DS.

*For no$gba to recognize a save, the save must be in the "BATTERY" folder.[/code]

Hello.

I'm playing right now, using Desmume 0.9.6 svn3404 x86. I'm playing a HeartGold weighting 8MB less than the clean ROM. I guess it was that patch most people said it didn't work that took those 8MB at the end of the ROM data, but I'm not quite sure, I'm sorry.

There are still freezes, but they don't seem to be growing shorter intervals. I'm not noticing it at least. I can do like half quests in each town per save/close rom/open rom, and I just managed to beat Morty. Saved, closed and opened the game, and It's still working.

Anyway, I wish I could be of better help, but keep on the brainstorm. I'm sure that AP will soon be over.

Yeah, and I saved / reloaded often too. >_>

Unless you mean the 7 badges thing. I just used a Pokesav-like device to just give myself the 7 badges just to see what would happen if I did have 7. It doesn't load.

I meant "It is not the sequence of events, but the number of badges." I think someone mentioned a while ago that merely getting the third badge was what brought about the forces of evil onto the DS, but it's the number of badges. If you grant yourself the last three badges (as opposed to the first 3) it still only goes for 3 events.

I've been loading my save file from the japanese version that has 6 badges fine by only activating 1 or 2 badges at a time, changing based on what hms i need at that point in time. With soft reset enabled saving every 20 events isn't that big of a deal but thats just me. I probably will get stuck once I need all 8 for the elite 4 though :/
