Well, you could say that she wasn't, in fact, only doing ballet because her mother was forcing her to do all the things she (the mother) couldn't. As is mostly the case with any girl over the age of 7 still doing ballet (and, subsequently, is the first thing that comes to mind). Or, you could explain that this didn't actually happen in Russia (because it might have), where "old school" ballet schools are the toughest establishments you could imagine, and any girl doing ballet there could easily bite the "boi" and his "sk8" in half
