I am having trouble with injecting the payload because whenever I do my screen just stays black and doesn't do anything unless i hold the power button down for 10 seconds. Also I know I have the right cable because I just got it and it is a data transfer cable.

What does tegra say? If it's "smashed the stack with 0x0000", then it's a patched switch and you will need a hard mod instead,

The modchip need to be soldered on to the motherboard with a soldering iron and solder. If you can't solder, hire someone to do it.
