Hey I am new to this site and need some help.

I am purchasing a 3ds 2011 edition I want to play 3ds games like Pokemon ultra moon and other 3ds games I have been looking at flashcarts but also found out there is away to hack 3ds which I could do if I seen a tutorial online.

I don’t have the ds yet but may get the 2015 edition I was going to get a Sky3ds card or hack the system but don’t know what will be best and which will be easiest I’m paranoid I get scammed with a flash cart but paranoid I may brick the ds help please

I think when you get a 3ds that has 11.3 firmware you don´t even need a flashcart
when it comes with 11.4 or higher than a sky3ds can´t help you

In a nutshell, you can install CFW on any firmware, but if it's on 11.3 or lower you're golden and can install without a DS flashcart. On firmwares above 11.3 you will need a compatible DS (Not 3DS!!!) Flashcart to install CFW.
This is the best guide out there, read through it carefully and installing CFW will be a breeze (Once you get your 3DS that is).

Thank you so no flashcart required I have now bought the 2015 edition unsure of the firmware should get the system by the end of the week but even if it is I can downgrade the firmware somehow. Do the 3ds games work doing it either way though ?

And do I have to update certain things in the future for new 3ds game titles to work ?

If the firmware is higher than 11.3 you will need to purchase a compatible DS flashcard (~$20) to install cfw, no downgrade required.
And by using installed titles with cfw rather than a flashcard you will not need private headers for your games. But technically yeah they would work either way.

Once you have cfw installed it will be safe to update your console for the foreseeable future.

theres is no way to downgrade the firmware but once you get cfw running you can update normally without losing it

The easiest is FreeShop. Get it from here and install it with FBI: https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-pauls-freeshop-fork-open-source-eshop-alternative.483159/
Go into the app, go to Settings > Update > Auto-update title keys from URL, tick the box and press the QR code button. Scan the encTitleKeys.bin QR code from that title key site (can't link you to it but it should be easy to find) and restart the app. From now on you can just open the app and download games like you would from eShop.

You can point people to the OP of the Noob Paradise thread if they need to know this info (if you want to avoid typing the same thing all the time :P)

I think the carts will be bigger flash size, and have a new lotus 4 protections so that can't be dumped say with a MIG dumper

Not believing any leaked details tell it's official Nintendo could easily swap ground to data and that'd be enough for an entire new layout
