Hi! I just revived my PS1 'cuz I want to play my imports and backups.. Problem is, I can't play 'em.
my PS1's an american one.

I don't have a retail/legit disc, either, just backups and imports.

Help?

PS: I can burn iso and others on a dvd-r disc if I have to. All suggestion will be noted. Thanks!

whats the model version?

The PS1 doesn't support DVD-R, just CDs. (DVD technology was still in development/experimental back on 1994)
I haven't used a real PS1 since ~2003 when mines broke, but AFAIK you need a modchip.
Perhaps there was also a disc switch method, I can't remember.

Following Options:
Install a Modchip: Easy, cheap and good.
Disc Swap: Not recommended.
For consoles with I/O Port: Use an Action Replay to swap Discs.
For consoles without I/O Port: Use a Disc based Xploder to swap Discs.

For a while you can Softmod the PS1, should be the best method but you need to be able to start a bruned disc. Per Swap trick or better per Xploder.

On psx_utils_bootcd.shtml,

Does BootReplay allow me to play backups or just imports, and do I just burn it or what?
Also, no download links here[?]
Import player light is what youre looking for and the download links are the floppy disks next to the words

Thanks. Lmao.

I also prefer retro rather than newer consoles.
In my opinion, games before are all fun, unlike now..
Graphics is all that matters. //sigh

Also, Thanks for the info. I only know how to mod Nintendo Consoles and PS2 for sony.
The rest, nah. :c

Yeah, I know!
the community thrives *^* also people never really got into psx out of region gaming because. noone knew how to import lol. and almost noone had internet and knew how to use it. hell computers were expensive and relatively useless back then. by the time a solution came tho the problem was solved through emulation soon after, also newer consoles arrived so yea.

also the reason the psx / ps2 where region locked it because at the time an international agreement signed by DVD-player manufacturers and film companies, it is illegal in Japan to play back the content of DVDs sold overseas. also the reason with pal / ntsc was the 50Mhz / 60Mhz CRT TV problem as tv's back then werent made to play both formats.
