0F 0F 0F 0F 0F 0F 0F FF FF FF FF WAS Found. 1 match.
Also, the matching data from #1 and msD image are the last 17 lines of data in #1. i dont know how u guys read bytes but its ..

-00524016 to 00524072
-length of 272.

i dont know how to do that "recover from [the end of the save minus 512KB] to the end of the save that I found."

Good, follow Cyan's instruction's above in post #30, but place your cursor well above the place where you found the 0F 0F 0F... string (4 screenfulls up is good) and set size to D0000 instead of 80000. Copy that block into a new file and upload it here. I'll tell you if that's indeed your save file or not.
I have to go out for a bit, will be back in 3 hours.

If you want, you can upload the disk image to my ftp and I'll check it when I get time. See PM.

done , here u go, beginning block is FOUR "Page Ups" above 0F 0F 0F 0F 0F 0F 0F FF FF FF FF.

Internet connection here is too slow to upload 2 GBs, i thought maybe there was someway i could send the whole hex data info or something in a text file and u could take a look at it.

No problem, waiting on you. im patient.

Looks like you found it  Here's your recovered save. The header is indeed different. If it still doesn't work, I'm afraid there's not much else we can do - it either got fragmented or corrupted. I'll be back in 3 hrs.

:/ save data is corrupted message in-game. :(

The header doesn't look like a good one.
He probably wrote new files to it after formating it, corrupting the sector.

the mSD was quick formatted, then a supercard dstwo´s menu files where copied onto it, my brother just verified if it booted correctly, then i snatched it from him.

i feel so sad right now. Can anything else be done?

- start a new game
- ask someone else to share his save file, with a progress near the place you were.

We have a 3DS Savegame sharing thread, if you want to ask one.

If the sd card was formated and new files were copied to it, then your chances of getting the save is extremely thin... if the recovered save is corrupted then you're out of luck:/

Just checked, it does reset it. I thought it was done on rom info (game header or whatever), but yeah, it resets it. Deleted my zelda save (have a backup) and it reset the spi even though nothing else has been played.

sorry for bumping this thread, just wanted to share some info i discovered a little while ago.

I found out that after GW creates the savegame on your SD card, (after exiting a game) and the savegame is deleted accidently or w/e (Like what happened to me in this thread), upon loading the game again, GW searches the SD card, if none is found, it will create new data. This is old news already known.

BUT!!!!!!

If u load youre game up again, but WITH NO SD CARD INSERTED, the savefile is STILL on GW. On the SPI i would believe. As long as you dont load another game. Someone care to confirm this? This should be known for everyone, for a way to recover accidental savegame erases.

If only i had known of this before when i lost my KH savegame... npbg6464 saved my ass anyway though.

yes this is how it works, and it's (or should be) known by everyone.
You should always keep at least a copy of your save file on computer in case the saving process deletes the save file. Before launching the game again (and losing the save for real), put back your old backup on your SD card and it will continue using the save in the flashcart SPI as long as you launch the same game and have the file on SD. maybe even creating a dummy save file will work.

had this in another thread but figured of reviving this thread since its an exact same situation again as the previous one that was resolved here

Can @npbg6464 or anyone else knowledgeable help me recover a save i lost by deleting accidentally? Maybe this procedure can recover it. i made a raw image through ODIN.

here are two earlier savefiles from different points. I have 0 hex knowledge and am posting so someone that IS can compare and find a good common byte line so i can search on my SD card raw file image

Last edited by juins,
nvm
I JUST DID IT
Recuva and all those recovery programs are trash, this is like the third time i havent been able to fix a situation like this with one of those programs

Ended up comparing two previous savefiles i had in Hex Editor and found a common string that i used on my SD card raw image file
BOOM
ended up playing with byte locations and got the 512kbs that i needed
Literally cant believe it, just kinda read this thread again and i kinda figured it out thru trial and error after like the 6th time trying.
It was a 79 hour Dragonquest 8 savefile.

Thank you ONCE again @Cyan and @npbg6464
you guys and this thread saved my ass.

THANK GOD for forums and backed up info.

and sorry everyone, for reviving this thread.
