You should update from menuhax to B9S, and it should be pretty simple.

Follow this guide to update to B9S. The difference for you will be that when you download SafeB9SInstaller, you should take SafeB9SInstaller.3dsx and use that in place of your boot.3dsx that you're using with menuhax.

It's easier then a9lh which required downgrading and not closing the lid when on 2.1,that caused many bricks last year.B9s now is just running the hbl,2 files that allow kernel acces then installing b9s through the b9s installer with no brick risk whatsoever.Follow 3ds.guide from the starting point if you are still on a menuhax setup.

    Start here: https://3ds.guide/homebrew-launcher-(soundhax)
Make sure you perform all of these steps from SysNAND! I recommend bypassing Menuhax (hold any button at start) and change your Home Menu Theme to remove menuhax so you don't accidentally boot into EmuNAND during the process. Install Soundhax using the guide I linked you and continue on from there.

Follow my advice above. It's good practice to make periodic backups, but you shouldn't have to.

During the process, 3ds.guide will have you copy over your EmuNAND to your SysNAND after installing B9S, so you'll keep of your games, saves, and applications.

Once you arrive here ( https://3ds.guide/finalizing-setup ), after copying the CIA file's to the SD:/cias/ folder, follow this. It says so in the guide, but it's easy to miss. Remember to not skip ahead, though.

To be clear, you're not putting SafeB9SInstaller into the payloads folder like the guide says. You're putting SafeB9SInstaller.3dsx somewhere you can launch it, whether it's in the 3ds folder so you can launch it from the homebrew launcher, or you're replacing your Luma3DS boot.3dsx with it so menuhax launches it on boot.

I was still running Menuhax on all of 3DS's not too long ago. Was too scared of A9LH because of how delicate the process is, and I thought B9S was just as risky, until I found out how easy it was to upgrade.

You can continue using emuNAND with B9S, so you don't have to reformat your SD card. After you install B9S, you can transfer your emuNAND to your sysNAND before removing the emuNAND partition.

I'm too new to know what rxtools really is, from what little I can gather, it's like the CFW equivalent of realplayer? :P

Rxtools was originally an emuNAND option for people who didn't want to update their sysNAND. However, it wasn't until later that it was updated with signatures patched. It then became the most popular CFW and remained that way until development stopped and Luma3DS took over.

Very true, but rxTools didn't fall until after Luma3DS came to be. In fact, it was A9LH support that caused the mass migration to Luma3DS from rxTools.
