When I first bought my GBA, I bought Breath of Fire II with it.
This game, was super awesome, later, I bought the first part. And that was awesome too!
Later on, I bought Golden Sun, I enjoyed that game even more!
And when the second part of Golden Sun came out, I bought that too.

Those were games, that were great fun! I've beat them all, like, 5 times.
And now I have my DS.
And actually, I want to play games, that are just as fun too play, as those games.
So, no full 3d crap like Dragon Quest Monsters Joker thing. But just plain 2D (parts can be 3D, like FF3, really like that style...)

Now I've tried Final Fantasy III. I thought it was a good game, untill the job thing came.
FF4, is imo not playable without knowing the story of FF3.
I've tried FFXII, but didn't really like that either.

My question is, could someone recommend me a game?
Should I just play FF3? Is the job thing easier and more fun then I think?
Should I just play FF4?
Or should I just wait for Chrono Trigger?
Or does someone knows another game, that I could play?

You don't need to know the story of FF3 to play FF4... I'm playing 4 right now, and I haven't played 3. Sooooo I'm guessing you have played Pokemon? Just search DS RPGs on google.

The story lines of almost all the Final Fantasy games in the main series are unrelated. FF4 is wicked sick, go play it.

None of the Final Fantasy stories are related to each other, so you don't need to worry about the order you play them in. Definitely play FF4, it's one of the best (if not the best) in the series.

I've tried FFXII

Does it make sense to anybody that he would play FFXII but not FF4?
And it even made me laugh since FFXII:RW is related to FFXII.

Erm, I think The World Ends With You counts as an RPG... Or Action-RPG... Anyways, it's pretty good, try it out.

Other games I recommend would be Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, Summon Night, and Pokemon, if you haven't played them. (All are 2D sprites, with the exception of the Pokemon overworld, which is in 3d-ish Sprite style)

can't you just play multiple rpgs at once(or games). I'm playing FFIII,FFIV, rizumu tengoku(rythm heaven) gold, korg ds-10,metal slug 7, AND DQ V. Who ever said you have to play games 1 at a time -.-.

whats wrong with 3D crap? DQMJ is one of my favorite DS games, online ranking FTW xD. i'ts like pimped out pokemon. lol.

My NDS RPG favorites:

Dragon Quest IV (J) (with partial translation via cheat code or .ips patch)
Dragon Quest V (J) (No translation yet, but translation guide from GameFAQS makes it playable for a while)
Dragon Quest Monsters - Joker
Legend of Zelda - Phantom Hourglass (sort-of an RPG)
Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy IV
Pokemon Diamond
Pokemon Diamond 493 (.ips patch)
Pokemon Pearl

FF3 and FF4 are in no way connected to each other
FF3 got me really bored and gave up half way through
FF4 has an extremely well written storyline, and 20hours in, finished half the game, and still getting me going

Yes, I've played Pokemon.
The World Ends With You too, but didn't really liked it.
Zelda PH, was the most crappy zelda game ever. imo.
I already beat Mario and Luigi.
And I'm not planning to play a Japanese game, I just enjoy a game more, when it's just english.

Okay, so I'm going to try FF4, Summon Night and Etrian Odyssey 1+2

ooh u are just like me

yeah breath of fire and golden sun were good games....

but ff3, the job system can be thought as djinns even though it's not the 100% same...

Dragon quest games (well not joker) are I think 2D (looking at the japanese one)

Oh, and for something that doesn't really count as an RPG, but is still very storyline orientated, Try the Ace Attorney series.

Once you start, you get hooked.

(Start with Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney first... Then work your way through Justice For All, trials and Tribulations, and finally Apollo Justice.)

I disagree, FlameTakuya. I started and started and started, and never got hooked.

Most of what has been said is true, FF4 is excellent. But I wish they would release Golden Sun 3. Please do it. Or at least re-release 1 and 2 on the DS, and add a dungeon or something. Anything.

^ It appears that it only appeals to people who enjoy reading books a lot, and/or enjoy story-heavy RPGs...

At least, that's what I've found out. (From the various reactions of friends and people I've tried to intro this to.)

Also, the third game is one of the most epic stories I've ever heard in my life. Not many books I've read can beat it.

That's how good I think it is.

Hrm yeah, I read a lot but the thing is, when I read I completely devote myself, and don't do anything else. I don't do this with video games, as I prefer to listen to podcasts, etc. That's probably why I couldn't get into PW. I'll try again as soon as my 'Gamers ADD' goes away. Which should be when I get older.

try Etrian Odyssey or Etrian Odyssey II ( you do not need to play them in order)

There they are.... Few of the hardest DS games around.
Hard but fun.

Agreed I think the FF games are overrated and overshadow better games (most atlus games are better
