You need to format to fat32 32kb cluster with guiformat, then do a full test with h2testw (let it run all the way)
also sd card adapters have switches on them to make them read only (but that doesn't apply to micro sd cards)

from there you need to change the allocation size to 32768 and label your volume label something like 3DS 64gb then click start. when it's done your sd card should be formatted to fat32

yep you can click close now! next step is to test the card with h2testw (let it fully run) and tell us what it says

I would still do the test first if you haven't or you might end up installing games over other games, but now you need to put the latest luma from here on your sd card root https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases/tag/v10.0.1
and put these files https://github.com/SciresM/boot9strap/releases/download/1.3/boot9strap-1.3.zip in a folder called boot9strap on your sd root
You should also install the latest luma updater and install to boot.firm to your ctrnand from the luma zip (so you can boot without an sd card)

put fbi https://github.com/Steveice10/FBI on your 3ds (both the 3dsx and cia version) load the homebrew launcher and go to fbi and use that to install the fbi cia

when i open homebrew and click something it just resets and goes from like red to green and goes back to the same page

is it all homebrew or just fbi? try injecting the homebrew menu via the rosalina combo and trying that way maybe

how am i supposed to do that and its when ever i click somehting like you told me to install the updater and when i clikc that it just resets
