Hacking Help choosing card

Well, I just got a DS Lite, and I've known about the R4 chips from just being in other modding scenes (PSP,360,Wii), but now that I did more research I see there are A LOT of other cards.

I hear that the R4 chip is no longer in production and is basically 'out-dated'.

I just want to play my backups, GBA games, and homebrew apps/games.

Which card is the best to get? R4, M3? etc.

Also easiest to use, possibly best gui?

Sorry I know you probably get these types of threads all day, but when I searched there was just too much information to handle, I just need the opinion of an experienced DS modder to help me.

Also, if you could supply a well-known site to buy it from, that would be highly appreciated.

Even though it does not have support anymore, the real R4 is a good card. AceKard is another card to consider. The AceKard cards are my favorites.

Well the r4 is outdated but can still play the majority of games that are released. And the few that can not be played on the originaol firmware can be on ysmenu, except for star wars the clone wars. BUt my suggestion would be to get an acekard 2i or an itouch 2. Both are under $20 dollars and will work with the dsi, if you decide to get one. Honestly I will get an itouch 2 to replace my r4, plus it is made by the m3 team who also make the m3 real. As for a good site, probably any that are affiliates of gbatemp.

I suggest getting the M3 Real. It's suppose to be really good.

If you want good support go for acekard2 + akaio !
team AKAIO is always the first to release fix for most of the recent game

M3 Real or AceKard 2.1: they are the cards I use the most.
M3 Real has built in media player and loads of other features, plus a beautiful GUI, (with M3 Sakura firmware)
whereas AKAIO is really practical.

AceKard 2.1 is cheaper, but I'll leave it to you to decide.

Buy a CycloDS, honestly its really worth the extra money.

Its not exactly expensive when all the money you save from playing your Backups and Free games.


It has a nice, customizable GUI.
Cheats, Real Time Save, Wii Connectivity, and the support is fairly okay.

I highly recommend it, if you can't afford it in any way possible, then go for Acekard + Akaio, its supposedly one of the best.

My pokemon has a cool video inside when i on it . Nice shiny wallpaper of palkia. Animated wallpaper when i press start and select the first file . And has interactive interface where i can move a weird sprite. It has RTS outside of battles. It has excellent compability.
