New Super Mario Bros. Wii contains the System Menu 4.1 update (and boot2v4). Other than possibly wiping out BootMii, you should be fine.

(If you don't want to update, New Super Mario Bros. Wii uses IOS53.)

how doesnt it give you a choise?

once you insert the disk it wii say "System Update" on the disk channel instead of NSMBW banner, thats the only choise youve got and if youve click on the disk channel and decided you dont want to update you must hold the power button to power off the wii at the confirmation screen BEFORE it updates

    EDIT

use dopios to install IOS53(wii needs net access) ,use NUS to get IOS53(pc app) and install with wadmanager or get the cioscorp patched IOS53 and install that
